We took the general tour to the waterfall and a pretty easy trail in the late morning. As such, we didn't really rack up the species list but still saw some cool things.
ruddy ground-dove
pale-vented pigeon
roadside hawk
white hawk
mangrove black hawk
double-toothed kite
black-throated trogon
wedge-billed woodcreeper
black-striped woodcreeper
white-throated shrike tanager
buff-rumped warbler
blue-crowned manakin
white-necked jacobin
violet-crowned woodnymph
violet-headed hummingbird
black-tailed flycatcher
mangrove swallow
red-footed booby
I talked to a guide there who mentioned Sirena is the place to stay for a few days for good birding. There's a lodge there that can be booked in advance with meals; I'd love to do a more rugged trip next visit!
