I finally walked on the boardwalk the other day, unfortunately but wisely short so as to keep tourists away from the sensitive marsh plants. I had to look from afar at the purple pitcher plant flowers. Yesterday, I canoed again with my other adviser back to the ink pot, getting better looks at dragon's mouth orchids as we explored the short channels off the pond. There was also an iris in bloom. It was a beautiful evening, and I'll soak up my last of the north woods today; sad to leave!
I narrowed down my cotton grass found in the bogs to Eriophorum but I think that's as far as I'll get. I walked the red trail through the "steep hills" of raven trail today, and the students introduced me to spinulose shield fern.
